This Freelance Video Editing Agreement ("Agreement") is entered into as of [Effective Date] between [Editor Name] ("Editor") and [Client Name] ("Client").
Editor will edit [Description of Project — e.g. a 5-minute promotional video] from raw footage and materials provided by Client, according to [Attachment / Section reference].
Client will deliver raw footage and materials via [Delivery Method]. Client retains ownership of all raw footage supplied. Editor will retain project files for [Number] days after final delivery, after which they may be deleted unless Client requests otherwise.
This Agreement includes [Number] rounds of revisions. Additional rounds, or changes to the edit after final approval, are billed at [Rate].
Client agrees to pay [Rate — e.g. $X flat fee / $X per finished minute], with [Percentage]% due upon signing and the balance due upon final delivery.
Client is responsible for licensing fees on any music, stock footage, or other third-party assets Editor incorporates at Client’s request, unless otherwise agreed in writing.
Upon full payment, Editor delivers the final video in [Format(s) — e.g. MP4, 1080p] and assigns to Client all right, title, and interest in the edited work, excluding any pre-existing tools, templates, or presets Editor used, which remain Editor’s property. Editor may use the finished work in their portfolio unless Client opts out in writing.
Editor is an independent contractor, not an employee of Client, and is responsible for their own taxes, insurance, and benefits.
Each party’s total liability under this Agreement is limited to the total fees paid or payable. Neither party is liable for indirect or consequential damages.
